Part 2 – The Atrium

The New Century Global Center looks huge from the outside, but you don’t realize the enormity of the building until you enter the central atrium. This too doesn’t even make sense and it takes more than a few minutes to comprehend the situation. It’s not the first time I’ve had to comprehend something after seeing something ultra-spectacular in China. I don’t even know where to begin. Well, first, the atrium has a wave pool and a beach with a huge video screen as a backdrop. At one end of the atrium is a village, at the other end is a large waterpark that actually looks small in this space. Then you realize there’s half a stadium overlooking the beach, and even though it’s half a stadium, the space completely swallows it with plenty of open air left over. That’s how big the atrium is. Let me repeat that. There’s half a stadium in the atrium and it doesn’t even overpower the rest of the space. Underneath the stadium is a food court that overlooks the beach. It’s actually a really smart design. The stage is on the other side of the pool. I imagine there are some pretty cool shows with this setup. The first ten photos below are from my Canon Powershot. The rest of the photos are from my iPhone 6 which takes surprisingly good photos.
