On Day Three of our bicycling adventures in Yangshuo we decided to head out on our own, without a guide. Having already gone east and west from Yangshuo, we headed north, up the Li River (Lijiang River), in the direction we came into Yangshuo on the cruise boat. The end of the road (literally) was a small, picturesque village that may have been called Shi Ban Qiao (but we’re not sure). With no way to continue upriver, we headed back to Yangshuo on an inland route where we promptly headed to McDonalds for much needed Western sustenance. Then, it was back to the hotel for an afternoon of rest and drying out our nasty, wet shoes (because we weren’t about to find new size 11 shoes in China).
