Once you see it, you have to go up it. That was our thoughts as we were drawn to the tower from blocks away. It’s officially called the West Pearl Tower (tower souvenirs also refer to it as the Sichuan Tower) and was originally built primarily as a radio/TV transmission point. The 339 meter tower features a restaurant and an observation deck with several caged viewing platforms with glass bottoms. The glass bottoms freaked us out and the wind howling through the cages didn’t help matters any. But overall, the tower was a neat experience for us and we have a newfound respect for anyone brave enough to walk on glass-bottomed viewing platforms.
